CATIA in Australian Shipbuilding

ADI Limited, Australia’s leading defense company, is undertaking total ship building responsibility for the upgrade and the associated detailed design work to implement the project of upgrading six Royal Australian Navy (RAN) FFG-class frigates. As the FFG Upgrade design authority, ADI is carrying out the overall system engineering and is working closely with its subcontractors to ensure that the program’s requirements are met.

The FFG Upgrade program follows ADI Limited’s construction of the world leading Huon Class Minehunters for the RAN and its highly sophisticated mine counter-measures system, which also utilized advanced capabilities provided by CATIA.

ADI will use CATIA for the structural, electrical and outfitting requirements of the project.

COE Process Interest Committees (PIC)

COE’s Process Interest Committees (PIC) are intended to provide a forum for process-related presentation, demonstration, and discussion. These forums are usually manifested at COE conferences as multiple breakout sessions running in parallel. PIC session topics are dedicated to furthering the knowledge and implementation of Dassault Systemes' CATIA, DELMIA, and ENOVIA tool set offerings. PICs are each managed by an appointed chairperson(s) who are industry experts in their disciplines. The domain leaders manage and organize the PICs.

The PICs are dedicated to specific aspects of Dassault Systemes’ technology, its environment, or its application. COE PIC breakout sessions are conducted in conjunction COE's semiannual national conferences. PIC breakout sessions are usually dedicated to presenting the current "state of the art" with respect to Dassault Systemes software implementations. Any conference attendee may attend PIC sessions at these conferences. COE encourages any person wishing to present at a PIC breakout session to contact the chairperson or domain leader responsible for the discipline of interest in order to make those arrangements.

Each process interest domain and committee is supported in its work by specialists from Dassault Systemes, IBM, and their various business partners.

COE Development Planning Councils (DPC)

Find out what functional capabilities are coming in the next releases of CATIA by attending a DPC Strategy meeting and have your functional requirements considered by Dassault for incorporation in CATIA by attending a DPC Working session at the Spring conference.

The COE DPC is the very heart of our vendor advocacy program and represents the collective voice – a voice that is heard – for our member’s Dassault Systemes product needs. The primary objective of the COE Development Planning Council (DPC) is to assure that the CATIA-related solution users' needs for enhanced functionality are properly communicated to and acted upon by Dassault Systemes developers. This includes enhancement requests as well as top strategic requirements.

The COE DPC is composed of multiple committees, each chaired by an appointed chairperson(s), approved by the Board of Directors, who serves on a voluntary, no-fee basis. These committees are co-ordinated by board member Steve Lynn. The committees are dedicated to specific aspects of the CATIA solution family of software solutions, its environment and/or its application. They meet at the semi-annual conferences to provide a forum for specialists to exchange experiences and knowledge, and to discuss CATIA-related solution enhancements and strategic requirements. They also review Dassault Systemes’ progress against previously submitted requirements. Each committee is supported in its work by development specialists from Dassault Systemes and IBM/PLM who attend and actively participate in the meetings.
