CATIA V5 System Administration: Performance Information and Tuning
Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. CDT
Presented by Bill Duke
The COE Your Way: “Ask the Expert” Teleconference is your way to learn about all the hottest topics in the industry. There is no fee for COE members! This teleconference is just one more year-round benefit of COE membership. These interactive presentations allow for a great learning experience and direct access to a Q&A session with the experts, without ever having to leave your desk; all you need is a telephone! Any program material as well as the 800 number will be provided prior to the teleconference.
As the capabilities of the V5 CATIA code increases, the data files become more complex and larger, yielding heavy performance demands on the operating system. In order to obtain the best performance for CATIA, it is important to understand CATIA's hardware and software requirements, CATIA's threshold limitations in regards to data sizes, and some memory management tuning methods for CATIA on the different operating systems. This session will provide the administrator information for understanding these three areas that effect performance. The presentation will also show some design methodologies for use by the end users which will yield additional performance benefits. Don't miss this session if you are responsible for administering V5 CATIA and your users work on large CATIA data files.
Bill Duke is a member of the IBM PLM Technical Support Team with twenty-four years of experience working on CAD/CAM systems at IBM.
